Privacy policy
Last updated: 22 September 2026
Scoops & Dishes (“we”, “us”) is a recipe website operated from Australia. This policy explains what information may be collected when you use scoopsanddishes.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. We aim to keep the explanation plain and accurate.
Who we are
We publish metric recipes and related pages. We do not require you to create an account to browse or cook from the site. We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
Depending on how you use the site, the following may be processed:
- Contact form details — name, email address, topic, and message content when you submit the contact form.
- Technical and usage data — approximate location derived from IP, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and referring URLs, typically via analytics or hosting logs.
- Cookie and similar technology data — identifiers used by advertising and analytics partners (see below).
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information through the recipe pages themselves. Please do not send health or financial details through the contact form unless they are necessary to your enquiry.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage and pixels. We and our partners may use them to:
- operate and secure the site (for example, load balancing or bot protection via our host);
- understand which pages are popular (analytics);
- show and measure advertising, including Google AdSense.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may limit personalised ads; core recipe pages should still load. Industry opt-outs for interest-based ads are also available via tools such as Google’s ad settings and relevant digital advertising alliance pages for your region.
Google AdSense and personalised advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and to measure ad performance. This can include personalised advertising where permitted.
You can learn more about how Google uses data in advertising, and manage ad personalisation, through Google’s published advertising and privacy documentation (search “Google advertising cookie settings”). If AdSense shows non-personalised ads in your region or based on your choices, ads may still appear using contextual signals (for example, that you are on a recipe page).
We do not control Google’s full cookie set. AdSense is provided under Google’s terms; their privacy policy applies to their processing.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting or standard analytics such as Cloudflare Web Analytics and/or Google Analytics to see aggregated traffic (popular recipes, devices, approximate regions). This helps us fix broken pages and decide what to improve. Analytics providers process data under their own policies. Where Google Analytics is used, it may set cookies unless configured otherwise.
Hosting and security logs
The site is hosted on infrastructure that may automatically log IP addresses, user-agent strings, and request metadata for security, debugging, and reliable delivery. Logs are retained according to the host’s practices and our need to investigate abuse.
Contact form
If you use our contact form, your name, email, topic and message are transmitted via our form provider (FormSubmit) to [email protected] so we can reply. We use that information only to respond to you and to improve the site when your message points out an error. We do not sell contact-form data. Avoid sending passwords or payment details.
Children’s privacy
Scoops & Dishes is a general audience recipe site. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it from our mailbox and ask relevant processors to do the same where feasible.
Australian privacy expectations
We handle personal information in line with the spirit of the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) where they apply to us. In short: we collect what we need for the site to function and to reply to you; we do not sell personal information; we take reasonable steps to protect messages we receive; and you can ask what personal information we hold about you in our email correspondence and request correction or deletion of that correspondence where practical.
If you are in the EU/UK or another region with additional rights (access, erasure, restriction, objection to certain processing), contact us and we will respond in a reasonable time. Some advertising and analytics choices are controlled in your browser or via Google’s tools rather than by us directly.
How long we keep information
Contact emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request and for ordinary inbox administration. Server and analytics data follow the retention settings of those providers. You can request deletion of your contact emails by writing to us from the same address you used.
Third-party links
Recipe pages may occasionally reference common products (for example, golden syrup) without outbound tracking links. If we add external links later, their privacy practices are their own — read their policies before sharing data with them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page when our tools or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you should read the new text.
